Jalili describes Baghdad negotiations as "Serious"

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Iranian delegation for the 5+1 meeting, Saeed Jalili, confirmed that the negotiations between his country and the six countries were positive.

He stated in a press conference after the end of the negotiations “Intensified negotiations started on last Wednesday and continued till Thursday where each side presented its proposals.”

“Such meetings enhance the international peace and security,” he added, stressing that “We focused on the public calls for democracy in the countries and the issue of Bahrain during Istanbul and Baghdad meetings.”

“The Iranian nuclear program was discussed seriously as we presented new proposals confirming that Iran wants to use the nuclear power for peaceful purposes,” he mentioned.

“We announced Iran’s readiness to cooperate through the dialogues in all fields,” he emphasized.

“We have a religious Fatwa that prohibits the nuclear weapons,” he continued.

He thanked Iraq for hosting the meeting and assured “Iraq played positive role on international level by hosting the meeting.”

“Iraq is respected by all the seven sides of the meeting,” he concluded.

Earlier, the meeting of 5+1 started in Baghdad on Wednesday noon to negotiate over the Iranian nuclear program.

International Atomic Energy Agency chief, Yukiya Amano, on last Tuesday, said that he expects Iran to sign an agreement “quite soon” to allow inspections of facilities suspected of being used in a covert nuclear-weapons program.

The United States of America and the western countries accuse Iran of attempting to have a nuclear bomb; Iran denies these accusations confirming its intention to use the nuclear program for peaceful aims.

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, delivered a fatwa over prohibiting the use of the nuclear bomb which consolidates the Iranian intention to use the program for peaceful aims.
