MoE inaugurates Taji steam power generating station in Baghdad

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Minister of Electricity Karim Aftan inaugurated, on Wednesday, Taji Steam electricity generating station, which is the second station in Taji district in Baghdad province, with attendance of a number of Directors General and representatives from the Emirati “Uruk” Company, the implementing company of the project. The Spokesperson of MoE Musab al-Mudaris quoted the Minister as saying, “The energy system in the country will witness an increase in production capacity during the few coming weeks and that will contribute in increasing the hours of power provided for the Iraqi citizens.” He added that “Our opening for this station in addition to Haditha power station, which we have inaugurated five days ago, is the beginning of inaugurating a large number of power generating station projects which the MoE has worked on speeding up implementing them to shorten time in order to solve the electricity crisis permanently in Iraq.” It is worth mentioning that “The second Taji steam power generating station consists of four units with (40) MW per unit and a total capacity of (160) MW.”
