PIC reveals storing power stations in desert in Basra

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Member of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, Hussein al-Asadi, revealed that “Some power generating stations are stored in the desert in Basra province.” Asadi said “We received information indicating that there are electricity stations that are dumped in the open area in Basra,” noting that “They cost approximately ($ 5 million), among these equipments are thermal station and power generating units.” He stressed “If these stations were set up there would not be shortage in supplying electricity.” He added saying “These stations suffer from the poor storage conditions since 2009.” He held the Ministers of Electricity responsible for this situation whether the former Minister, Karim Wahid, or the current Minister, Abdul Karim Aftan al-Jumaili.
