Hakim calls to reduce age of nomination for next elections

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, called to reduce the age of the nomination to 25 years in the next parliamentary and Provincial Councils elections.

During the celebration organized by the SIIC on the occasion of the Iraqi Martyr Day in Baghdad on Friday afternoon, Hakim mentioned “We call to reduce the eligible age of the candidates in the next elections to 25 years to enable the young people to participate in making the political decision in their early ages.”

“Our State is still young and needs the young people to accomplish the progress,” he added.

“So support this initiative and spread it among all the young people in all over the Iraqi provinces regardless their Trends, communities and sect to be a national initiative, the initiative of Iraq to the young people of Iraq, the initiative that could not be attributed to a certain side,” he concluded.
