Larijani urges Iraqi political sides to preserve Iraq’s unity

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Iranian Consulting Council, Ali Larijani, called the Iraqi leaders to preserve the unity of Iraq.

In the anniversary held in Tehran for the Martyrdom of the Former Head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Mohammed Baqer al-Hakim, Larijani stated “The democratic institutions formed in Iraq work to activate the regional and international role of Iraq,” assuring that “The Internal conflicts underestimate the reputation of the countries, so Iraqi leaders must preserve their internal unity.”

“Hakim’s vital role was very unique and the current practice of democracy in Iraq was set by his efforts,” he added, noting that “Hakim’s father the late Religious Authority, Mouhsin al-Hakim, was one of the high scholars and a great figure in Iraq and the Islamic world.”
