MoHC clarifies stance towards BM over financial disputes

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Ministry of Housing and Construction issued a statement concerning its disputes with Baghdad Mayorship about a number of matters, most notably the topic of estimating the cost of rehabilitating Baghdad airport, where the ’inistry accused “the BM of financial corruption.” The Senior Agent of MoHC Istabrak Ibrahim al-Shouq said “Baghdad Mayorship attempts to involve the Ministry in the problem of developing Baghdad Airport project,” noting that “MoHC was tasked by the Integrity Commission and Supervisory Commission to nominate experts to estimate the project’s work.” “The Ministry carried out this request and designated specialists and engineers where they made survey tours to the implemented works of the project and offered technical and engineering report after they have sworn in front of the concerned authorities,” al-Shouq added. He clarified that “BM did not provide MoHC with any piece of land during the last seven years to build residential complexes in Baghdad despite the fact that Baghdad population represents 24% of Iraq’s population,” stressing that “The ministry is implementing currently 57 residential complexes all over the Iraqi provinces.”
