Mutalabi described requesting Maliki to resign as "Rejected political blackmail"

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Saad al-Mutalabi, of the State of Law Coalition described the calls of some political sides for the Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, to resign as “A rejected political blackmail.”

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he stated “These calls are not allowed and we will not allow Maliki to respond to them.”

“Those who want to topple Maliki must follow the constitutional procedures through the parliament and not through the political deals,” he added, noting that “They can investigate Maliki in parliament and withdraw confidence from him, if they are not satisfied by his responses.”

“Properly, the SLC and the Iraqi National Alliance will withdraw from the political process if these sides withdraw confidence from Maliki,” he pointed out.

“The whole political process will be finished because the three presidencies were formed according to the political deals and if Maliki was toppled, the president and the Speaker posts will be cancelled as well,” he concluded.
