Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Independent High Electoral Elections urged the Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to release the fund allocated for conducting the next elections of the provincial councils.

The head of the IHEC Faraj al-Haidari stated to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) on Friday “We have submitted a request to the Premier Nouri al-Maliki three weeks ago to release a fund of $ 10 million for the account of the IHEC to start the process of correcting the voters’ record and start some administrative and preparations for conducting next provincial elections but we have not received any response in this regard.”

Concerning the reasons behind postponing provincial elections of Kurdistan Region, Haidari said “The Authorities in Kurdistan Region have not finalized setting laws and rules for the conducting the elections including the electoral system in the Region.”

The last provincial elections were conducted in 2009 all over Iraq except for Kirkuk and Kurdistan Region.
