Barzani announces gathering more than 170 signatures to withdraw from Maliki

Erbil (IraqiNews.com) The President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, announced gathering more than 170 signatures for MPs who support withdrawing confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, and sending these signatures to the President, Jalal Talabani, again.

He stated on his personal page on Facebook “The efforts are going on to replace Maliki constitutionally,” noting that “If the problem of the democracy in Iraq is solved, the problems of Kurdistan Region will be solved too.”

“If this way does not settle the problem of the democracy in Iraq, we will adopt other options,” he concluded.

Earlier, the President Jalal Talabani assured, on last Saturday night, that the number of the MPs who have signed a request to withdraw confidence from the Premier Nouri al-Maliki reached only 160 MPs which is less than the required number limited by 163.

The political sides which held a meeting in Erbil on last Sunday decided to send “A clarifying message to confirm that the signatures collected for withdrawing confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, are constitutionally suffesient and valid.

It is worth mentioning that the head of the Iraqiya Slate, Ayad Allawi, the Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, and the Deputy Premier, Salih al-Mutleg, participated in a meeting in Nineveh to discuss the efforts for withdrawing confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki.
