Harb describes Talabani’s authorities to topple Maliki as General, unlimited

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The legal expert, Tariq Harb, described the authorities granted for the President, Jalal Talabani, to withdraw confidence from the Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, as “General and unlimited.”

In a press statement received by IraqiNews.com on Monday, he stated “According to the Article (61) of the constitution, Talabani has the right to decide over the issue of withdrawing confidence from the Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki.”

“No one share Talabani’s opinion in this issue,” he added, assuring that “Talabani can decide this issue with or without the desire of the leaders of the political blocs,” he concluded.

Earlier, the President Jalal Talabani assured, on last Saturday night, that “The number of the MPs who have signed a request to withdraw confidence from the Premier Nouri al-Maliki reached only 160 MPs which is less than the required number limited by 163.”

It is worth mentioning that the head of the Iraqiya Slate, Ayad Allawi, the Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, and the Deputy Premier, Salih al-Mutleg, participated in a meeting in Nineveh to discuss the efforts for withdrawing confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki.
