MoT to launch landline phones all over Iraq soon

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Ministry of Telecommunications announced approaching the completion of erecting more than six million land line phones in Baghdad and other provinces. The Technical Director within the MoT Amir al-Bayati said “The landline phones will be in the hands of the citizens within the next 2 years which will reach to six million lines.” He noted that “The technical and engineering teams have completed extending 15 KM of optical cables across the country, which are characterized by multiple services besides voice as well as setting up the next generation of switchboards such as video, games and internet service.” He assured that “Some of the project’s phases have been implemented in provinces of Baghdad, Diyala, Anbar and Basra.” Bayati referred that “Such large projects aim to turn Iraqi Community into an electronic society and to prepare the infrastructure to achieve this goal such as the e-government, Smart Village, the electronic schools and CCTV.”
