Mayahi: Political overthrow rather than national interests behind investigating Maliki

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The leader within the White bloc, Aziz al-Mayahi, assured that “Investigating the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, aims at overthrowing him political rather than achieving national interests to serve the Iraqis.”

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he said “The political bloc calls for withdrawing confidence from Maliki do not have issues to investigate Maliki about because he did not violate the constitution,” stressing that “If these blocs have certain observations concerning the governmental performance, they will be responsible of them because the cabinet is formed from all the blocs.”

“The political sides should support the government and to focus on holding the national meeting because investigating Maliki will have negative impact on them since Maliki will reveal thier corruption files,” he concluded.

Earlier, the President Jalal Talabani assured that the number of the MPs who have signed a request to withdraw confidence from the Premier Nouri al-Maliki reached only 160 MPs which is less than the required number limited by 163.

The political sides which held a meeting in Erbil on last Sunday decided to send “A clarifying message to confirm that the signatures collected for withdrawing confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, are constitutionally suffesient and valid.

It is worth mentioning that the head of the Iraqiya Slate, Ayad Allawi, the Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, and the Deputy Premier, Salih al-Mutleg, participated in a meeting in Nineveh to discuss the efforts for withdrawing confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki.
