Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Ministry of Culture mourned “The death of the Iraqi Islamic scholar, the grand historian Sheikh, Baqir Sharif al-Qurashi, who passed away on last Sunday in Najaf province, due to incurable disease. The Ministry of Culture Undersecretary, Taher al-Hmoud, said “With deep sadness and sorrow, we received the news about the death of the great scholar al-Qurashi who spent his lifetime in enhancing the Islamic culture with his outstanding and remarkable books.” “Qurashi’s death is considered as a great loss for the Islamic world and the Iraqi community, in particular, as it is a loss to the intellectual, scientific, and religious communities which lost a dignified and enlightened researcher who enhanced the Islamic libraries with his informative and valuable books and writings,” Hmoud added. He concluded the statement by saying “We present our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased and ask Allah to inspire us and them patience and fortitude.” Sheikh al-Qurashi was born in 1927 in Kasem city of Babel province and started to study the religious sciences since the early years of his age and he was the representative of the religious authority in the area.
