Nominating Maliki for 3rd term to result in dividing Iraq, says Sadrist MP

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Ali al-Timimi, called “The political blocs to avoid nominating the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, for a third term,” noting that “Nominating Maliki for third term to result in dividing the country and consolidating dictatorship.”

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he said “Maliki’s efforts for assuming the PM post for the 3rd time will cause internal conflicts.”

“The insistence of the Sadr Trend to withdraw confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, aims at preserving the national interests of the country,” he concluded.

The relations between the head of the Sadr Trend, Muqtada al-Sadr, and the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, witnessed tensions recently.
