Duri accuses Maliki of controlling Communication, Media Committee

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Maha al-Duri, of the Sadr Trend accused the Primer, Nouri al-Maliki, of controlling the Communication and Media Committee.

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), she stated “The Committee is completely controlled by Maliki and this is a constitutional breach where the constitution stated that the Committee must be independent,” noting that “Maliki assigned one of the members of al-Dawa Islam Party, headed by Maliki, as the manager of the Committee.”

“Some MPs of the State of Law Coalition hinder the performance of the investigating committee about the Communication Committee,” she added, pointing out “I was prevented from participating in the programs of the Iraqiya Satellite Channel due to criticizing the government which is based on documents that I have to practice my observary role.”

“We are working to ensure the independence of the media including the Committee and the Iraqi Media Network,” she concluded.

Earlier, the Sadr Trend led a demonstration calling for the freedom of the media outlets in Baghdad on Wednesday.
