Kobler expresses concerns over political process

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Iraq, Martin Kobler, expressed “His concerns over the current situation of the political process in Iraq,” assuring that “The religious authority in Najaf is also concerned about the negative consequences of the current situation.”

During a press conference after meeting the religious authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayed Ali al-Sistani, in Najaf on Thursday morning, he stated “We discussed the political updates related to the current political crisis during the meeting to bring all political sides to the dialogue table to avoid more deterioration.”

“We do not interfere in shaping the democratic regime rather we present our advices and recommendations,” he added.

“This is the second visit to Najaf for me to meet Sistani,” he concluded.

Earlier, Kobler arrived in Najaf and met Sistani on Thursday morning.
