Iraq, Romania to expand cooperation in irrigation fields

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Minister of the Water resources, Muhand al-Sa’dy, called the Romanian Ambassador to Iraq, Jacop Prada, to sign “the agreement which was issued by the United Nations related to the use of the international water paths in the non-navigational purposes for the year 1997.”

The Ministry reported in statement to IraqiNews.com on Thursday that ”The Minister hosted at the headquarter of the Ministry in Baghdad the Romanian Ambassador to Iraq, Jacop Parade, and discussed with him during the meeting, the bilateral cooperation and taking advantage of the Romanian experiences in implementing the irrigation projects and treating the negative side effects of salinity in the Shatt-il-Arab River.”

The statement quoted the Minister of Water Resources as saying that ”The Minister invited all the Romanian businessmen and companies to invest in Iraq in the various irrigation fields,” stressing that ”The importance of the Romanian companies’ participation in implementing the developing projects in Iraq.”
