Kobler urges to select IHEC members through majority

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Iraq, Martin Kobler, called to adopt majority to elect the members of the Independent High Electoral Commission.

While meeting the Parliamentary Experts Committee, Kobler said “You have reached the last step of choosing nine members of the IHEC who will be qualified for this task where the electoral process to depend on them.”

“Any decision to be made by majority, taking into consideration the minority and women’s right will be the basis for democracy in Iraq,” he added.

He appreciated the performance of the Committee which reviewed 7200 requests for IHEC membership, assuring the adherence of United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq
