Rumor of collapsing Mosul Dam groundless, says official

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) The Director General of Mosul Dam, Abdul Khaliq al-Dabbagh, denied the reports of some media outlets about “The risk of collapsing the dam because of the earthquakes that hit Mosul city earlier.” Dabbagh said to IraqiNews.com “The news about collapsing Mosul Dam is mere rumor that aims to confuse the situation in the province.” He added “The situation in the dam is safe and it is better than the previous condition due to the continuous works of grouting and injection for the dam’s base which started to improve after 2006,” asserting that “We do not have any concerns about the dam’s collapse.” he invited the media outlets to “inspect the dam.” It is worth mentioning that a number of media sources have warned, last week, of the risk of collapsing Mosul Dam due to the recent shakes that hit the province in the last months.
