Sadr hopes to avoid holding earlier elections

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The leader of the Sadr Trend Muqtada al-Sadr expressed his hope that the current crisis will not reach the stage of calling for conducting early elections in Iraq.

In response to a question raised by Iraqi News over the calls of some political blocs to conduct early elections as an option to settle the crisis, al-Sadr said Wednesday “We do not hope to reach the stage of holding early elections.”

We hope to settle the crisis through starting reformations,” he stressed.

Earlier, the Premier Nouri al-Maliki has assured that he “will call to conduct early elections to settle the current political crisis in Iraq if some blocs rejected to sit on the dialogue table.”

The Iraqiya Slate has called many times, through its leader Ayad Allawi, to conduct early elections to have a way out of the political crisis.
