Haidari: Local elections not be conducted on time

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Independent High Electoral Commission, Faraj al-Haidari, stated that the local elections will not be conducted on time.

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he added “The reason behind the delay in conducting the local elections is that the financial amounts are not allocated yet in addition to the lack of a special law to organize the elections.”

“The disputes over the elections law are just opinions over the empty and compensational seats,” he concluded.

It is worth mentioning that the local elections were held in 2009 in all the province of Iraq except Kirkuk and Kurdistan Region.
