Maliki calls to provide better services for citizens

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Premier Nouri al-Maliki called the Provincial Councils and Ministries to collect all their capacities to speed up presenting services for the citizens.

A statement by the Premier’s office, to Iraqi News, cited Sunday “Maliki headed the 12th meeting for the Supreme Coordinative Committee for the Provinces held in Baghdad with attendance of Ministers of Oil, Electricity, Minister of State for Provinces’ Affairs, Governors and Chairmen of Provincial Councils,” noting that “The meeting was devoted to discuss the most important problems facing provinces and discussing possible means to relief these problems.”

Maliki called to expedite providing necessary services, including electricity power as priority, for the citizens, the statement added.

For his part, the Minister of Electricity Abdul Karim Aftan assured during the meeting that “The implementation of the power generating stations is going according to plan since production has reached 7750 MW and will reach 9000 MW during next Ramadan holy month.”

The Minister of Agriculture highlighted the improvement in production of wheat crops which became covering more than 60% of the Iraqi needs, according to the statement, which mentioned that “The Minister emphasized success of the Ministry’s cadres in increasing the number of palm trees in Iraq from seven million trees into 21 million trees.”
