Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nijaifi stressed the necessity of respecting the dates of elections and forming new Independent High Electoral Commission to include women and minorities, noting that “The Parliament seeks to endorse many important law drafts, among them provincial councils’ law draft and others.”

A statement by the media office of the Parliament, received by IraqiNews.com cited Monday “The Speaker Nijaifi received in his office on Monday the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative to Iraq Martin Kobler and both discussed the updates of forming the IHEC as well as Reforms Document submitted by the Iraqi National Alliance to settle the political crisis.”
