UNSC to discuss Iraq request to extend term of UNAMI

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Informed sources stated that the Unaited Nations Security Council will discuss the request of Iraq to extend the term of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) for one more year.

It is worth mentioning that the Council of Ministers has informed the Secretary General of the UN, Ban Ki-moon, of extending the term of UNAMI for one more year.

The sources added “The Iraqi Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zibari, stated to Ki-moon, that the latest changes in the region and the Arab revolutions proved that Iraq is right in building the democratic state that is based on the protection of the human rights, so we request to extend the term of the UNAMI for 12 months according to the wish of the Iraqi government.”
