Najaf (IraqiNews.com) The office of the Religious Authority, Ali al-Sistani, denied “The reports over assassination attempt targeting him.”

A source from the office stated to IraqiNews.com “The reports over assassination attempt targeting Sistani are groundless.”

“Sistani received a group of believers who periodically visiting him,” the source added, stressing that “He has a good health.”

Some media outlets quoted a security official within the Anti-Terrorism Department as saying “A gunman wearing an explosive belt was trying to target Sistani,” noting that “The attempt was defused.”
