Energy Committee commits same mistake of 2011, says MP

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Wehda al-Jomaily, of the Iraqiya Slate pointed out that ”The Energy Committee in Parliament made the same mistake of the last year when it supported the owners of the private electricity generators instead of the citizens.”

She reported in press statement that ”Unfortunately the Parliamentary Energy Committee repeated the mistake of the last year by distributing the fuel for free for the owners of private and governmental generators.”

She added that ”This step was not supervised by the government which allowed the owners of the generators to exploit it for their own benefits making fortunes on the cost of the citizens.”

The Government approved on 22 of last April to supply the owners of the private and governmental electricity generators with fuel for free as (30) liters for each (KVA) monthly then the Government increased it into (35 liters) in Ramadan.

According to statement of the Minister of Electricity Abdul Kareem Aftan ”The current summer represents a challenge for the Ministry of Electricity just like a battle which has to be won for the good of the citizen.”
