Dori: Attack on Anti-Terrorism Department obliges government to settle security ministries issue

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Itab al-Dori, of the Iraqiya Slate called the government to start the first step of the reforms by “settling the issue of the security ministries,” assuring the necessity of “Settling this issue quickly especially after the terrorist attack on the Anti-Terrorism Department.”

In a press statement received by IraqiNews.com on Wednesday, she said “The instable security situation especially after the last attack on the Anti-Terrorism Department in addition to the terrorists’ attempt to realese the detainees from the prison, forces the government to settle the issue of the security ministries.”

“It is illogical that the Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, holds the responsibility of the security file with his multiple responsibilities,” she added, noting that “Maliki needs to set the suitable person in the suitable place by selecting the qualified persons to run the security ministries.”

She called the government to “Show balance in granting the employment degrees in the Interior, Foreign and National Security Ministries in order to have a positive stance toward the security situation in Iraq.”

The Ministry of Interior announced on Tuesday that “Two suicide bombers are surrounded inside the building of the Anti-Terrorism Department in central Baghdad.”

The official Iraqiya satellite channel quoted the Interior Ministry Undersecretary Adnan al-Asadi as saying “The security bodies managed to surround two suicide bombers wearing explosive vests and killed the third terrorist inside the building of Anti-Terrorism Department.”
