MP threatens to investigate officials responsible for file of electricity power

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Abdul Hussein Abtan, of Citizen bloc of Najaf province threatened “The officials responsible for the electricity file to investigate them,” noting that “The distribution of electricity power granted 6 hours only in Najaf,” describing this situation as a “disaster.”

Abtan added in a statement to IraqiNews.com “Najaf province does not get but 6 hours of the power provided by the national grid and this represents a disaster especially the province will witness in the few coming days great religious occasions like the anniversary of martyrdom of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) as well as rituals of Qadir night.”

“The officials concerned with the file of the electricity power must provide the power to the province otherwise we will interrogate every official who proves to be negligent,” he stressed.

Najaf Provincial Council has voted, on last Wednesday, on a decision to sue each of the Deputy Premier for Energy Affairs, Hussein Shahristani, and the Electricity Minister over the degradation in electricity situation in the province, describing Shahristani’s pledges as false promises concerning upgrading the electricity power in Najaf.
