Abbawi assures: Iraq calls for political settlement for Syrian crisis

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Undersecretary for the Political Planning Affairs of the Foreign Ministry, Labid Abbawi, assured that “The Iraqi stance over Syrian crisis is still the same since it calls to settle the political crisis in Syria without military interference.”

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he said ” The Syrian situation and its effects on Iraq was discussed with the Parliamentary Committee for the Foreign Affairs,” noting that “A quick revision to the security and military situation in Syria was discussed when the Committee hosted me in the parliament.”

“The Committee and the Iraqi Foreign Affairs Ministry call the Syrian sides to conduct dialogue under the supervision of the Arab League and the United Nations in order to transfer the authority in Syria peacefully,’ he added.

“We have also discussed the means of protecting the borders in order to ensure that the terrorists would not enter Iraq to conduct armed activities on the Iraqi territories,” he concluded.
