Sadrist MP accuses some powerful sides of delaying holding local elections

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Hussein al-Mansouri, of al-Ahrar bloc accused some powerful sides that he did not name, of delaying holding the local elections.

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he stated “there are some powerful sides try to hinder endorsing the local elections law draft because it will affect their benefits in the next elections.”

“The elections became a negative issue to Iraq and the citizens where most of the provincial councils were not organized in a good way to practice a good role especially in Basra province,” he added.

He called to “Expedite holding the local elections and grant more authorities to the provincial councils to practice their real role.”
