Nineveh Governor: Muwafaqiya blast causes (55) deaths, injuries

Nineveh, Mosul (IraqiNews.com) The Governor of Nineveh Atheel al-Nijaifi assured that the casualties of the blast in Muwafaqiya mosque reached (55) deaths and injuries.

Governor Nijaifi reported in statement to IraqiNews.com that ”The casualties of the car bomb, which exploded near Muwafaqiya Shiite mosque, reached two deaths and (53) injuries, eight of them are in very serious condition,” noting that “The injured people were transported to the hospital for treatment.”

He added that ”The explosion caused material damage to the walls of mosque.”

A suicide bomber detonated a car bomb while the prayers were getting out of a mosque in Muwafaqiya area of eastern Mosul which is resided by the Shabak Shiite community.
