US call Oil Co. not to conclude contracts with Kurdistan RegionG directly

(IraqiNews.com) The United States of America demanded “The Oil Companies to deal with the Iraqi Government and not to conclude contracts directly with the Government of Kurdistan Region, as did the two American companies Exxon and Chevron as well as the French company Total.”

The Official Spokesperson of the US Secretary of State, Victoria Nuland, reported in press statement that ”The Oil Companies should sign contracts with the Iraqi Government rather than with the Government of Kurdistan Region,” adding that ”Concerning our Oil companies, we insist that these companies adopted their own decisions and they are risking with these contracts as long as there is no Iraqi federal legislation which allows it.”

The Government in Kurdistan Region and the Central Government have disputes over 41 contracts, which Kurdistan RegionG signed in 2007.

The Iraqi Central Government threatened to cancel the Oil contracts and any other agreements with the Government of Kurdistan Region concluded without obtaining the approval of the Ministry of Oil.”
