Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Walid al-Muhammadi, of the Wasat Alliance, described the Iraqi Government’s attitude towards the displaced Syrians who are stuck at the borders with Iraq as “a violation to the international conventions on refugees for humanitarian reasons.”

Mohammadi said in a statement to IraqiNews.com that “Some of the Syrian refugees at borders with Iraq have died due to the shelling of the Syrian regime, they demanded to be rescued but there are orders to prevent their entry to Iraq.”

“This stance hurts Iraq’s reputation and gives bad image about the Iraqi people and Government,” he added, calling on the Iraqi Government to “correct this situation.”

“The Government of Iraq has to meet the calls of Anbar and Nineveh people who demand to re-open the border posts in front of the Syrian refugees,” he stressed.

Mohammadi urged “The civil society organizations to help the Government in taking such a decision by assisting it in providing logistic support to accommodate the displaced Syrian families.”
