Official survives assassination in Mosul

Nineveh, Mosul (IraqiNews.com) The member of the municipal council of Hamam Alel area and his wife survived an assassination attempt when an Improvised Explosive Device exploded in southern Mosul.

The Chairman of Hamam Alel area, Saad Ali Shiet, reported to IraqiNews.com on Monday that “The IED exploded targeting Mohamed Abeed Sultan al-Hamadani, the member of Hamam Alel municipal council, while he and his wife were traveling by thier personal vehicle near Abr Abd village within Hamam Alel area (10 KM) to the south of Mosul city,” noting that “Although the explosion did not cause ant human casualties but it caused serious material damage to the vehicle.”

He added that ”What some media outlets reported concerning injuring Hamadani and his wife in the explosion is groundless,” stressing that ”The municipal council member and his wife survived the explosion unharmed.”
