3% of Federal Budget to be allocated to MoD

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Council of Ministers decided to allocate 3% at least from the Federal budget to cover the weapons purchases and military equipments of the Defense Ministry.

The official spokesperson of the Iraqi Government Ali al-Dabagh mentioned in a press statement received by IraqiNews.com that ”The Cabinet decided to allocate 3% at least from the Federal budget to the weapons purchases and military equipments of the Defense Ministry,” noting “The Ministry of Finance should consider this resolution in the allocations of the Federal Budget of 2013.”

He stressed that “The Defense Ministry should specify its purchases a year ago and submit it to the Ministerial Committee for National Security in order to endorse it.”

The statement added that ”The Cabinet postponed discussing the request of the Ministry of Oil concerning settling the losses incurred for not delivering the Oil from Kurdistan region according to the budget law of 2012 for one week,” pointing out that ”A delegation from Kurdistan Region should travel to Baghdad to discuss this issue with the Ministry of Oil.” \
