Barzani Stresses Kurdistan Region’s commitment to Constitution, political agreements

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, stressed to the US Assistant State Secretary, Elizabeth Jones, “The Region’s commitment to the Iraqi Constitution and the political agreements.”

A statement by Barzani’s Office cited “Barzani received, on Tuesday, the US delegation headed by the US Assistant State Secretary, Elizabeth Jones, where they conferred about the activities of the Political Coordination Commission between the USA and Iraq within the Strategic Framework Agreement concluded between both countries in 2008.”

“The delegation listened to Barzani’s viewpoints about how to conduct the necessary reforms in Iraq and the region,”

Barzani stressed that “The problem in Iraq and Kurdistan Region lies in lack of adherence to the Constitution and the agreements concluded among the political sides.”

“Despite this aggravated situation, we seek to dialogue with the other political sides to implement the required reforms on the political process,” Barzani assured.

“It is unacceptable to use the share of the Kurdistan Region in the general budget as a pressure means and resort to use force in addressing the problems,” Kurdistan Region President concluded.
