Nineveh Governor denounces CG decision to dismiss Turkish Counsel in Nineveh

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) The Governor of Nineveh province, Atheel al-Nijaifi, described the decision of the Central Government to dismiss the Turkish Counsel in Mosul city as “Wrong step that will weaken the trade relations between Nineveh and Turkey.”

In a press statement, Nijaifi mentioned that “The decision of the Council of Ministers over dismissing the Turkish Counsel from Nineveh province to protest the visit of the Turkish Foreign Minister to Kirkuk province is a wrong decision since the Turkish Counsel of Erbil province accompanied the Turkish FM in his visit to Kirkuk rather than the Counsel of Nineveh.”

“The decision will weaken the relations between Turkey and Nineveh province since the companies and businessmen will prefer to process their documents and business affairs at Erbil Consulate which will be more effective,” he added, noting that “Turkey might reply to this decision by a similar step to dismiss one of the Iraqi counselors in Istanbul or Ghazi Intap cities.”

“I have warned few weeks ago from isolating Iraq on the regional level, but it seems that this isolation will expand,” Nineveh Governor concluded.
