Zubaydi, Barzani stress need for cooperation to address current crisis

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, discussed with the Head of the Citizen Bloc in Parliament, also a leader within the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council (SIIC), Baqer Jabur al-Zubaydi, the means of reaching new mechanism that adopts mutual basis in running the country.

A statement by the Kurdistan Region Presidency mentioned “Barzani received, on Tuesday, in Salah il-Din Resort, the leader within the SIIC and Head of the Citizen bloc, al-Zubaydi, where the latter delivered the compliments of the Head of the SIIC, Ammar al-Hakim, to the President Barzani,” reiterating “The previous stance of the SIIC in sustaining the relations between both sides.”

“Barzani stressed the depth of the historic relations between the Kurds and the Shiites and the other Iraqi communities,” the statement added, emphasizing necessity to “keep these relations and not permit any side to distort them.”

“Both sides agreed to adopt a new mechannism for running the country through cooperation and commitment towards the Constitution and former agreements among Iraqi blocs to over current crisis,” the statement concluded.
