Baghdad Mayor resigns for “personal reasons”

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Mayor of Baghdad City, Sabir al-Esawi, submitted his resignation for the Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki for personal reasons.

Reliable source assured for the Iraqi News “Esawi submitted his resignation for the fourth time but Maliki did not decide about these resignations,” assuring that “Maliki referred the resignation to his deputy for Services Affairs, Salih al-Mutleg, who rejected to approve the resignation.”

“PM Maliki tasked his assistant Hamid al-Musawi to contact Esawi and figure out if the resignation was for political pressures or not,” the source added, noting that “The reasons were personal.”

“Deputy PM, Mutleg, rejected Esawi’s resignation and demanded him to remain on post till the end of the term of the current government,” the source concluded.
