IS MP accuses some political blocs of hindering arming IA

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Lubna Rahim, of the Iraqiya Slate assured that “Some political blocs, she did not name, hinder arming the Iraqi Army with modern weapons.”

In a press statement received by IraqiNews.com on Friday, she said “There are some political blocs that always create tensions while discussing the budget of arming the IA or any other activity related to it.”

“The report of the Defense Minister, Sadoun al-Dulaimi, which has been submitted to the Council of Ministers after returning from Russia, assured the necessity of arming the IA that lacks many military equipment, especially that Iraq is facing real threats by some neighboring countries,” she added.

“The report assured that a fund must be formed to equip the IA where the CoM approved it, but there are some reports state that some political blocs aim to hinder this issue,” she pointed out.

“The current situation in Iraq and the region requests Iraq to be a strong country that is able to defend itself,” she concluded.
