Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Fatima al-Azirjawi of the Citizen bloc criticized “The statements of the Ahrar bloc’s MP, Maha al-Dori, against the head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim.”

She stated to IraqiNews.com “Dori’s statements concerning the resignation of Baghdad Mayor and her attack against religious symbols like Hakim are unacceptable.”

“We ask Ahrar bloc to restrain Dori’s statements because this is not the first time that she attacks Citizen bloc,” she added.

“We support all MPs who practice their supervisory role especially in the case of Baghdad Mayor where he was interrogated by the parliament and he answered all the questions and the parliament was satisfied about his answers,” she concluded.

Earlier, Baghdad Mayor, Sabir al-Esawi, has submitted his resignation to the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, due to personal reasons.

This resignation was followed by accusations by MP, Shirwan al-Waeli, of the State of Law Coalition and MP, Maha al-Dori, of Ahrar bloc for Esawi of being involved in corruption.

Dori launched accusations against Hakim during a TV interview with a local satellite channel.
