Maliki, Hague discuss bilateral relations, Syrian crisis

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, and the British Foreign Affairs Minister, William Hague, discussed bilateral relations and the Syrian crisis.

A statement by Maliki’s office received by IraqiNews.com cited “Maliki received Hague and discussed the regional updates with him especially the Syrian crisis.”

“Maliki confirmed during the meeting that Iraq supports any peaceful solution to grant achieving the aims of the Syrian people through a transitory government and warned from spreading weapons and violence in Syria,” the statement added.

“For his part, Hague assured his country’s desire to develop its relations with Iraq, stressing that his visit aims at urging the British companies to double their activities in the Iraqi Market,” the statement continued.

“Hague mentioned that there are huge firms that wants to work in Iraq and the British Government is encouraging them to come to Iraq, emphasizing that the British Embassy in Baghdad started granting visas for Iraqis who wish to visit the UK,” the statement noted.

“Hague expressed his support for the peaceful solution in Syria confirming the necessity of forming a transitory government involves the opposition and the current government,” the statement concluded.
