Zibari: UK to open Consulate for visas in Baghdad soon

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Iraqi Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hoshyar Zibari, assured that “The United Kingdom will open a Consulate in Baghdad soon to receive the visas applications of Iraqi people who wish to visit the UK.”

Zibari said in a joint press conference with his British counterpart, William Hague, held at the Iraqi FM building on Thursday “We agreed on forming a mutual economic-commercial commission between Iraq and the United Kingdom for development purposes on various fields.”

“We discussed the issue of exchanging the prisoners and detainees between both countries,” he added, calling to “activate this agreement as soon as possible.”

The UK Foreign Minister has arrived to Baghdad, on last Wednesday, in his first visit to Iraq.

The UK Embassy in Baghdad has announced that “Hague will meet with senior Iraqi officials such as the Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, the Foreign Minister Zebari, and the Speaker Osama al-Nijaifi.”
