Two car bombs exploded, in Dhi-Qar province on 9/ September; the first car bomb exploded near a hotel located near the building of the Governorate while the second explosion targeted the French Consulate building in Baghdad Street of central Nassiriya.

The Governor of Dhi-Qar accused, during joint press conference with the French Ambassador to Iraq, “new political gathering headed by the, sentenced to death in absentia, Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi of being behind these explosions, justifying the behaviour of Hashimi by taking revenge to himself since the explosion occurred in the same day of declaring the death verdict against him.”
