Parliament lifts its session

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The parliament in its 23rd session headed by the Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, in presence of 184 MPs on Monday, has voted on eight Commissioners of the Independent High Electoral Commission in addition to hosting the Health Minister to discuss the situation of the Health Institutions.

A statement by the media office of the parliament received by IraqiNews.com on Monday “The Parliamentary Woman Committee started the session by a statement where it rejected the lack of woman’s representation in the new board of Commissioners of the IHEC, calling for a fair representation to the women in the IHEC and all the independent commissions.”

“Nijaifi confirmed the survival of MP Habib al-Turfi from the terrorist attack on Monday, pointing out that he called Turfi to make sure of his health condition and that he will resume his work soon,” the statement added.

“The parliament voted on eight out of nine Commissioners of the IHEC,” the statement pointed out, noting that “Nijaifi praised the performance of the committee that has chosen the nine Commissioners out of seven thousand candidates.”
