Alewi demands Maliki to pardon returnees from Syria

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The independent MP Hassan al-Alewi urged the Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, not to investigate with the Iraqis returning from Syria who escape from fighting rages there, noting that “This step from Maliki would give him the patriotic dimension that is requested in the character of a Premier.”

Alewi cited in a statement on Friday “A large number of the Iraqis living in Syria gave me a memorandum addressed to the PM Maliki in which they called to pardon them when they come back to Iraq to escape the murder and abduction in Syria.”

He added that “The memorandum quoted the Iraqi refugees as confirming that the PM Maliki will bear the responsibility in case any one of them exposed to murder or kidnapping especially that most of the Iraqis who wish to return home were not convicted of criminal cases but they were just political refugees.”

Earlier, Maliki has called the Iraqi people living in Syria to return safely to their country and promised all those who have taken negative attitudes towards Iraq but were not involved in bloodshed against innocent people.
