MP: Government not authorized to linger procedures of JAC

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP, Kareem Alewi, of the Iraqi National Alliance pointed out “Lingering the procedures of the Justice and Accountability Commission is not among the authorities of the Government but the parliament has such authority.”

Speaking to Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com), he said “There are reports that the government stops the mission of the JAC at the current time,” noting that “Only the parliament has this right because it is the representative of the people.”

He called “To implement the JAC procedures to eliminate the role of the former Baath Party and the armed groups.”

“At the current time, we have to consolidate the JAC to perform its duties,” he stressed.

Earlier, the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, agreed upon lingering the procedures of the Justice and Accountability Commission against a number of University Professors.
