Nineveh Governor accuses militias of assassinating religious men in Nineveh

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) The Governor of Nineveh province, Atheel al-Nijaifi accused militias that he did not name, of being behind the assassination of the religious men in Nineveh province.

In a press statement, Nijaifi stated “During the last few days, the assassination attempts were increased to target the preachers and the religious men in the province.”

“Our concern over the increased activities of the sectarian militias in Nineveh was correct where such attempts to kindle such conflict,” he added.

Earlier, gunmen assassinated Sheikh, al-Man Mohammed Ali, on Monday in al-Zahra quarter of western Mosul.
