Hamoudi: US new Ambassador to Iraq familiar with Iraqi Situation

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Head of the Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Relations, Humam Hamoudi, assured that “The new US Ambassador to Iraq, Robert Beecroft, is familiar with the situation in Iraq with all its details and this helps him to understand what is going on here.”

Hamoudi added in a statement to IraqiNews.com “Beecroft served as assistant to the US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice; therefore he is not far from the situation in Iraq, unlike the previous candidate who is affiliated to a certain US political side.”

He clarified that “The US embassy in Iraq should deal with Iraq as an independent State within the diplomatic framework and adhere to its role in preparing the visas, scholarships and so forth.”

The US Senate has approved the appointment of Beecroft as US Ambassador to Iraq.
