Askari calls Iraqi Government for more effective role in addressing Syrian crisis

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Member of the Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee, Sami al-Askari, called the Iraqi Government to move effectively towards resolving the crisis in Syria.

Askari said to IraqiNews.com “As a head of the Arab League, Iraq is requested to support the efforts of the UN-Arab joint envoy Al-Akhdar al-Ibrahimi towards settling the Syrian crisis.”

He added that “The stance of the Foreign Relations Committee is consistent with the Government’s official stance in its rejection for the military interference in the Syrian events and its support to adopt dialogue.”

It is worth to mention that Iraq has proposed an initiative to stop the bloodshed and the serious consequences of continuing the fighting rages in Syria.
